Deep Forest Fest — Characters Across Editions
Mirror Men, Disco Heads and LED artists on stilts, keeping the atmosphere alive on stage and in the crowd, edition after edition.
Standing out next to lasers
and LED walls
An electronic music festival comes with lasers, LED walls and lighting that cuts across the whole frame. A performer in an ordinary costume vanishes there in two seconds. Deep Forest Fest needed characters that hold their own next to the production, at night, and work just as well down among the crowd.
Characters that steal
the stage light
We sent 4–6 artists to each edition, from a line-up that changed year to year: Mirror Men plated in triangular mirrors, Disco Heads, and LED artists on stilts. The mirrors pick up the lasers and the stage light and throw them back at the crowd, while the LEDs read even when the spotlight is elsewhere. The characters went up beside the DJ booth and came back down to the barrier, among the people.

Costumes plated in mirrors
Every suit is covered in hundreds of triangular mirrors, cut and set by hand in our workshop. They catch the green lasers and scatter them back over the crowd.

LED outline across the suit
LED strips along the shoulders, waist, sleeves and shoes, powered from inside the costume. The silhouette stays readable even when the stage goes dark between tracks.

On stage and in the crowd
The large characters worked beside the DJ booth, while Disco Ball came down to the barrier, among the people, for photos and direct contact.

Editions in a row
They brought us back edition after edition, with a different mix of characters each time, so returning festivalgoers never saw the same thing.
Mirrors cut
and LEDs fitted in our workshop
The costumes are built in our own workshop piece by piece: every mirror is cut and set onto the form, and the LED strips are fitted along the outline and powered from inside the suit. That is how we could bring them back three editions running, repaired and reset between festivals, without depending on anyone.
