IQOS — Aerial Act
Two aerialists suspended over the dance floor in origami skirts that open like a flower, with visuals projected straight onto the costumes.
An act with no stage,
played overhead
IQOS needed something that would hold the dance floor for a few minutes, at a party under a marquee. A room where everyone is moving and nobody is watching a stage. The act had to read from any corner and give people a reason to pull out a phone.
Origami skirts,
used as a screen
The act played in the air, above the crowd. Two performers suspended over the dance floor, in origami skirts that open wide, like a flower. Visuals were projected onto the costumes, so the skirts doubled as a screen — the pattern shifted with every move and the shape redrew itself each time they opened. Below them the floor stayed a dance floor: people danced and looked up at the same time.

The aerial act was built for this party and rehearsed in advance, so both performers moved identically, at the same height.

The video patterns were projected straight onto the origami skirts, so the artwork changed as the skirts opened.

Two performers, one sync
Sync in the air is rehearsed, never improvised — which is why the runs happened before the event, not during it.
Choreography and rehearsals
for the sync overhead
The origami skirts are not our production — our part here was the choreography. We built the act for this party and rehearsed it beforehand: sync between the two performers, and timing against the projection so the pattern landed on the skirt as it opened. The rest was placing the act inside the rhythm of the night.
