Young Island Festival
Between 8 and 10 lit-up characters per edition, moving through the crowd at a night festival in Bacău.
In the dark, anything
unlit is invisible
A night festival on open ground, with a young crowd and high energy. In the dark, any act that does not emit light drops out of frame. This audience films everything, so whatever shows up has to hold up on a phone screen too. And when a client books you every year, the programme cannot stay the same.
LED and mirror costumes,
ground and stilts
Between 8 and 10 different characters every year: programmed LED costumes and mirror costumes, on the ground and on stilts. Among them, a character in a white beaded dress with LEDs embroidered into the fabric. Lit silhouettes that walked through the crowd and stretched the stage across the whole field. After dark, these are the acts that stay in people's phones.

LEDs programmed in our workshop
We program the LED costumes ourselves, which is how we could change the characters from one year to the next with no new production.
-
A white dress embroidered with LEDs
One character wore a white beaded dress with the LEDs sewn into the fabric. The kind of piece that comes out of a tailoring room, not a catalogue.

Three editions in a row
2024, 2025 and 2026 — the festival called us back every year, with at least 8 to 10 different characters each time.
Three editions, a programme
rotated every year
2024, 2025, 2026 — three years running, with at least 8 to 10 different characters per edition. All of it from our own inventory, choreographed through the festival and matched to the night. The range sits in our workshop, so we could rotate the characters from year to year without repeating the programme.
The film „Young Island called us back three years running, with 8 to 10 new characters per edition — the clearest sign the night side of the festival was working."
